Timeless Ocean

Seba Cener’s mural, painted in his distinct upside-down style, is a tribute to the fishermen of Fleetwood and the deep sacrifices they made for the community. The inverted trawlerman, surrounded by moving waves, reflects the tough, often disorienting life at sea. The clock face reminds us of the long, gruelling hours they endured, where time was both a burden and a necessity.  

The silhouette of a lone figure in a small boat, symbolises the bravery to face the unknown to bring life-sustaining food back to the community. This represents the courage of fishermen venturing into the unknown, much like navigating life’s challenges. The upside-down perspective invites viewers to rethink the struggles and sacrifices of these men, forcing us to see the weight of their work from a new angle, just as their lives were constantly upended by the sea.
